Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines have two separate causes, and they respond very differently. Dehydration lines are temporary and soften within days of consistent hydration. Structural lines, from years of expression and sun exposure, are permanent changes to the skin and can only be softened in appearance, not removed.
What skincare can realistically do
Hydration plumps the surface so fine lines are less visible. Gentle exfoliation improves texture and light reflection. Daily sunscreen is the only step with strong evidence for slowing the formation of new lines, since UV exposure is the largest controllable driver of skin ageing.
What it cannot do
No topical product removes established wrinkles or replaces lost volume. Anything marketed that way is overselling. If deep lines are your main concern, a dermatologist can discuss options that skincare cannot match.
Where to start
Sunscreen every morning, moisturiser twice daily, and gentle exfoliation twice a week. That order matters more than any single product.
